Angolan-born Paulo, aka Chilola, the rain that destroys anything in its path, trained as a boxer from a young age. With no less than 150 fights under his belt and the first Angolan to win gold at an international tournament, Paulo lives and breathes boxing. Having learnt his art from Cuban boxers, masters of technical boxing, Paulo has nurtured many a champion such as Nicola Adams, Chris "The Flash" Evangelou & Andreas "Ace" Evangelou; Jose "The Look' Lopes; Larry "The Natural" Ekundayo; Eric "The Eagle" Ochieng and Hannah Beharry to name but a few. The list is endless.
The heart and soul of Selby Amateur Boxing Club, Paulo is more than just a boxing coach and is seen by many of his students as a father figure, positively impacting their lives inside and outside the ring.
Paulo recently featured in the '1000 Londoners' project, a unique digital portrait of the city, offering an insight into the lives of 1,000 people who consider themselves to be Londoners, taking in all ages, religions, race, income, interests and opinions.
